MARCHING
IN THE MEMORIAL DAY PARADE
You’d be surprised how many residents of
Bellport and the surrounding areas have never heard of Playcrafters, even though
we have been in existence for over 46 years.
With this in mind and in honor of our upcoming production of Noel
Coward’s Private Lives, we are planning to march in this year’s Memorial Day
parade in Bellport on Monday, May 29th.
We are encouraging you to come and parade with us to support Playcrafters.
We hope to have a vintage car (1930’s) to advertise “Private
Lives”. If not we will have an open bed truck to hold the cast.
If anyone would like to help with decorating the car or preparing banners
or to just march in the parade, please contact John Hannon at 286-1730 or Judy
Perfido at 289-6662. If you would
like to march in the parade, please meet in front of the Bellport Community
Center on Bell Street at 10:30 am. The
parade starts at 11:00am. Let’s
all come out to support Playcrafters and our upcoming production, this will be
lots of fun. We hope to have
balloons to give out to publicize Playcrafters. We need to get the word out that PLAYCRAFTERS IS BELLPORT’S
OTHER LIVE THEATRE.

FILL
THOSE SEATS !
The
Board of Playcrafters urges you to set aside a couple of hours on either June 2,
3, 9 or 10 to come to our theater space at the Bellport Middle School, Kreamer
Street, to see a wonderful production of Noel Coward's "Private
Lives". This is the play Coward wrote for Gertrude Lawrence and
featured Laurence Olivier and Coward himself. The play is witty and
sophisticated and has an all-star cast directed by our own George Loizides and
produced by John Hannon. Make it an evening out and a delightful way to
start the summer. There are seats waiting to be filled by membership of
Playcrafters -- support your theater group -- see you at the show!
BRAINSTORMING
WORKSHOP
If you were at our Annual Meeting, you know
that Playcrafters was planning a brainstorming workshop on how we can publicize
Playcrafters and our shows more efficiently.
There were two sessions. At
the first meeting there were 12 members in attendance and many good ideas were
brought up. We discussed them briefly and combined ideas of similar
nature. Two weeks later, we came
together again to categorize those ideas into what we thought we can do
immediately and those that needed more planning for the future.
Three of the new, more immediate ideas are a “Singles Nite” for our
opening night performance (see article in this newsletter), marching in
Bellport’s Memorial Day Parade (info. also in this newsletter), and in the
next few weeks, look for our lawn signs along some of our local highways and
by-ways publicizing “Private Lives”. We
are always open to new suggestions concerning Playcrafters and you can direct
them to P.O. Box 452, Bellport or call us at 631-748-7863 and someone will
return your call.
FAREWELL
TO NICK SANNA
We are both happy and sad that Nick Sanna
will be moving to upstate New York. Sad for us, because we all will miss his great talent and his
sense of humor not to mention his construction expertise.
If you worked with Nick on our shows, you know that he had a knack of
making you laugh. We are happy for
both he and Sue embarking on a new adventure.
Nick has family where they are moving and being with family is important
to them. Nick, we will miss you and
Sue very much, thank you for all you contributed to Playcrafters over the years.
We hope and pray that life will treat you both well.
